Anthony DeRosse Receives NCCAA DII Tournament Awards

2010 Dec 20

Anthony DeRosse of Brandon, FL was awarded recognitions at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II national championships. The Clearwater Christian College sophomore received the All-American recognition. DeRosse is a 2009 graduate of Ruskin Christian School in Ruskin, FL and is the son of Susan DeRosse.

DeRosse was among a trio of CCC players to receive awards at the championship. All three played key roles for Clearwater as the Cougars won their 2nd straight NCCAA D2 National Championship and finished the season with a record of 14-5-1.

Clearwater was the only school to have three players named to the All-American team. The players will be honored at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 15, as part of the 2011 NSCAA Convention.

Coach James Whitaker had this to say about these honors: "These guys have been a huge part of our team's success this season and are well-deserving of this significant accomplishment. These guys have been leaders for our team both on and off the pitch, and it has been exciting to see them grow certainly on the field but also in their walk with Christ."
